Jameel Barfield has worked in all aspects of media for his family-owned boutique PR agency, Barfield Public Relations, Inc.  Since returning to the firm in 2013, Jameel has managed the company’s advertising buying and scheduling division; including the recently acquired New York Black Publishers, Inc. account, for which he processes group advertising buys and coordinate promotional efforts.  In addition, he manages clients’ public relations campaigns through integrated media relations efforts, such as pitching media, securing news stories and product placements, and distributing press releases and media alerts.

Jameel has worked as a Business Consultant and Media Relations Specialist for the Department of Commerce’s NY Minority Business Development Agency, and for the Brooklyn International Trade Development Center as a Media Relations Specialist.  Jameel has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration, with a minor in Public Relations from the University of New Haven in West Haven, CT, and he has earned a Minority Business Certificate from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

Balm In Gilead  – 25th Anniversary of The Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS / ANNIVERSARY SYMPOSIUMS: PUBLIC HEALTH AND FAITH PARTNERSHIPS

Jameel managed the media campaign for the Balm In Gilead’s 25th Anniversary events (Week of Prayer and Symposium – Public Health and Faith Partnership). The campaign consist of implementing an integrated media outreach of which include creating a compelling pitch to the electronic and print media; follow-ups an scheduling interview dialogues with producers, writers in five cities and national media. Participating cities include, New York City, Rochester, NY, North Carolina, Texas, and Indianapolis.

Arranged interviews with the Balm In Gilead’s spokesperson on WABC –TV “Here & Now”, POZ Magazine, AURN (American Urban Radio Network), Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN), Web site positing and approximately 50 African American weekly publications nationally.
Results: Impressions averaging over 2 million.

New York State Insurance Fund: “Anti-fraud Campaign”

As Account Manager and Media Planner/Buyer, Jameel handled the paid advertising campaign for the NYSIF (New York State Insurance Fund). The creative of the Anti-Fraud campaign was produced by NYSIF; Jameel managed the scheduling, buying and placement of the ad in 31 Upstate NY Daily publications and 303 weeklies including 25 publications in New York City and Long Island. I negotiated the cost, placement and start and end date of the Anti-Fraud campaign.

Results: Impressions averaging over 7 million
